A dynamic Kathak dancer, Korean artist Won Joung Jin infuses her own creativity into her performance.  A strong, yet graceful performer, her dance recital incorporates both traditional and contemporary forms of the Indian classical dance Kathak.  With her dual training in classical dance and music (tabla - Indian hand drums), her understanding of rhythm adds depth to her dance performance.  Her chakars enthrall audiences and her padhant (oral recitation) leaves people in awe of the ease with which she recites such complex and foreign words.

Working with leading Kathak choreographers, including Shreemati Kumudini Lakhia, Shreemati Saswati Sen, Maulik Shah and Ishira Parikh, Jin has performed all over India in festivals such as the Delhi Shrinagar Dance Festival, the Jaipur Udayshankar Festival and the Kolkata Dance Festival amongst others.  As a soloist, she has performed in major cities of India, Canada, Europe and Korea.  In addition to dancing and playing tabla, Jin has added to the proliferation of knowledge about Indian classical music by being the first Korean to write a tabla textbook.
