Kaumil has been training in tabla for over 20 years under Tabla Guru Pandit Divyang Vakil. Good music is not simply characterized by good technique, but involvement in its creation, which never lacks in Kaumil’s playing. Armed with a strong foundation in Indian rhythm, Kaumil also plays the African djembe and Arabic dumbek.

Kaumil is a member of several of Pandit Divyang Vakil’s contemporary classical tabla ensembles Talavya (for the compositions Tabla Ecstasy, Power of Tabla and Tabla Taandav), Ardha Taal Chakravyuha, and Ardha Taal Chakra. He also is a percussionist for the world fusion group Taan as a djembe player and an tabla teacher at Rhythm Riders Music Institute in Ahmedabad, Gujarat.
