(Music/ Tabla) Guru Purnima 2008 – India

As we look forward to Rhythm Rider's Guru Purnima celebration this year, where we will be celebrating Guruji's 30th year of teaching, its time to look back on our Guru Purnima celebrations of the past. Rhythm Rider's Guru Purnima function is the largest music guru purnima celebration in Gujarat. Everyone looks forward to the Guru Purnima function. It is a chance for students of Rhythm Riders Music Institute (and the Taalim School of Indian Music in the US) to showcase their talent, an opportunity for the community to come together to celebrate music and tabla and of course, the time when we formally honor our Gurus and "dada-Gurus". Here is a look at some pictures of Guru Purnima held in 2008 in Ahmedabad, Gujarat. The program in 2008 included performances by 6 female tabla players, 5 foreigners (hailing from Korea, US and Canada) and a performance by Pandit Divyang Vakil newest tabla ensemble - Tālavya (formerlyTabla Ecstasy).
