In a tabla trance

Music lovers in Ahmedabad have been in a tabla trance over the last week as Rhythm Riders has presented concert upon concert in celebration of Guru Purnima and Pandit Divyang Vakil's 30 years of teaching. It has been an unforgettable week for all the visitors from places such as the US, Korea, Canada and all over India to be with Guruji for this special anniversary.

In the subsequent days following Guru Purnima, everyone was treated to incredible solos by students as young at 7 years to professional artists. Rahul Shrimali's pure Ajrada solo was a technical and artistic masterpiece, Nishant Mehta beautifully demonstrated Guruji's compositions, 10 year Adit performed his first solo mistake-free, Michael Lukshis played some compositions that you won't find Indian tabla players performing, Kaumil Shah put everyone in a meditative state with his consistent and calming teentaal, Sahil Patel had everyone engaged with his Punjab solo and 10.5 minute rela, Sejal Kukadia impressed all with her signature Dha TeTe, Brian showed off his balanced hands, Vinnie proved why his tabla performance is so appreciated, beginner student Shaurya aptly expressed the moods of his compositions, Anna's enjoyment of tabla came through in her playing and smile, while Dhruv and Devam dazzled with their speed. And we're still not done! One more night of fantastic performances to come, including a Jhaptaal solo by Loren and pure Delhi solo by Rushi. The trance continues...
