Globe-trotting percussion ensemble Talavya brings a dynamism to the art of tabla, infusing it with the power of rock drumming while respecting the ethos and tradition of the classical art form.  Composed by Pandit Divyang Vakil, playing in perfect synchronization, the ensemble distills the spirit of tabla into a high-energy performance and demonstrates how the drum is truly capable of anything.  A rhythmic journey not to be missed.

Ambassadors for Indian percussion, Talavya has shared the stage with artists such as Mickey Hart (of Grateful Dead), Shakura S’Aida, Sidi Toure and Cuban Fire.

Talavya were a huge hit at our festival, our audience who was blown away by the groups virtuosity and friendly, accessible performances. I can’t recommend them enough, even to audiences who may not be used to Indian music! - DougCox, Executive Producer/Artistic Director, Vancouver Island MusicFest

“The group Talavya brought a great combination of talent and professionalism to INK2011. They wowed the audience with their engaging and entertaining performance.” – Lakshmi Pratury,  Curator of INK, Co-Curator of TEDIndia
